Suryakumar Yadav has returned to the field just 2 days after the end of IPL 2026. This time the league is different, but the form is as bad as before. The captain of India’s T20 team is currently playing in the Mumbai T20 League. He scored only 19 runs in the match against North Mumbai Panthers. Surya’s team lost by 21 runs.
On Tuesday, the match was played between North Mumbai Panthers and Triumph Knights. Panthers, captained by Ajinkya Rahane, batted first and scored 209 runs. When the Knights team came to chase the target, they lost 2 wickets at the score of just 20. Suryakumar Yadav came to bat at fourth position, who could contribute only 19 runs in 11 balls.
Suryakumar Yadav looked in good touch in the beginning, had scored 19 runs in 9 balls including four fours, but was out after being hit by Rahul Sawant’s ball. When Surya was out, the Knights’ score was three wickets for 57 runs. Well, Nutan Kumar Goyal from Surya’s team played a fighting inning of 93 runs in 56 balls, but his team could score only 188 runs in the stipulated 20 overs and lost the match by a margin of 21 runs.
Before this, Suryakumar was not able to show anything special in IPL 2026 also. While playing for Mumbai Indians, he scored 270 runs in 13 matches and was able to score only 2 half-centuries in the entire season. At the same time, even in the T20 World Cup 2026, as captain, Surya was not able to create much destruction with the bat. He scored 242 runs by playing 9 matches in the World Cup. Amidst this poor performance, reports have also emerged that the selectors have excluded Suryakumar Yadav from the plans for the 2028 T20 World Cup.
