US Vice President JD Vance made a big announcement on Monday (June 22, 2026) regarding the agreement with Iran. He said that the US and its negotiating team have achieved significant progress towards finalizing the agreement with Iran.
He said, ‘Yesterday, Sunday (June 21, 2026), was a very, very good day. We have made very good progress. We did exactly what we wanted to do. Iran has agreed that it will invite inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to visit its country again. This is a huge achievement for the American people and the first step towards permanently dismantling Iran’s nuclear weapons program and making it completely nuclear-free.

According to Fox News report, while addressing a press briefing during the Lake Lucerne Summit 2026 held in Switzerland, US Vice President JD Vance said, ‘Iran and America have agreed on four things in the first round of talks towards a permanent peace agreement. The first of which is to create a co-ordination mechanism, the objective of which is to keep the Strait of Hormuz completely open for free movement of ships.

He said, ‘We have seen that after the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, billions of barrels of crude oil and gas reached the global energy markets and energy prices have come down in many countries of the world. Our second mechanism will be to coordinate efforts to remove mines laid in the Strait of Hormuz, while the third will focus on monitoring the ceasefire in Lebanon.
IAEA inspectors will come to Iran again – Vance
Vice President JD Vance said, ‘Iran has agreed to invite inspectors from the United Nations’ nuclear monitoring agency, IAEA, back to its country and allow them to enter. This is the first step towards permanently ending Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
He said, ‘This is one of the main objectives of America in the talks. Under the nuclear agreement signed during the tenure of President Barack Obama, (IAEA) inspectors used to work in Iran, but the situation changed after President Donald Trump removed them from that agreement.
