LPG Connection: Despite the progress in talks regarding the peace agreement between America and Iran, the tension in the Gulf region is not showing signs of reducing. Amidst these news, the Government of India is taking several corrective steps to ensure smooth supply of LPG to the common consumers of the country. Meanwhile, many such claims are being made on social media that LPG connections will be closed after June 30? People are scared thinking that they will no longer get supply of gas cylinders after June 30. If you are also confused about this, then let us tell you that there is nothing like that. This is a rumor through and through.
What is the truth?
The truth is that the government has suggested some rules related to LPG and PNG connections with the aim of reducing dependence on LPG, facing interruption in supply and curbing black marketing. This step is being taken at a time when the government and oil marketing companies (OMCs) are focusing on the policy of ‘one house, one gas connection’.
What is the rule of 30 days?
The government has implemented a rule, under which LPG users will be given 30 days to close their existing connection after taking PNG connection. That means this rule is for those consumers who have either taken or are taking PNG connection.
Under the new amendment (LPG Amendtment Order 2026) issued by the government on 25 May 2026, you will have to surrender your old LPG cylinder within 30 days after the PNG connection is started at home. This rule applies to all major LPG companies like Indane, HP Gas and Bharat Gas. For example, if a customer gets a PNG connection on 23rd June, he will have to get the LPG connection closed within 30 days, i.e. by 23rd July. If you do not do this within the time limit of 30 days, your LPG account will be blocked.
90 days time limit
This deadline is for those people in whose area PNG gas pipeline has been laid, all the infrastructure is ready, but they are still using LPG cylinders. The government had said in its order issued in March 2026 that all such families have been given 3 months (90 days) time to shift from LPG to PNG. Overall, if PNG gas is not being supplied to your house nor have you applied for it, then this rule of 30 days or 90 days does not apply to you, hence no question of disconnection of your connection arises.
