In 2014, the investment in the company saw a boom in the company after Google was purchased in 400 million pounds of UK Artificial Intelligence Startup Deepmind. Last year, Alphabet spent about $ 50 billion on AI infrastructure. The company’s second quarter’s results released in July 2025 were more than the estimate. This was followed by a 4.1 percent jump in Alphabet’s shares. The company has also increased its expenses on research and development by 16 percent. Regarding this, Pichai had said, in view of the increasing demand of cloud customers, we considered investment on AI infrastructure necessary.
Early days passed in difficulty
Sundar Pichai was born on 12 July 1972 in Chennai. His father was an engineer by profession. In the early days, his family lived in a flat of two rooms. He had no car nor TV. There was no separate room for Pichi’s studies. Despite this, at the age of just 17, he enrolled in IIT Kharagpur due to his hard work and ability. In 1993, he received scholarship from Stanford University. His parents spent more than $ 1000 to buy airplane tickets to go to America, which was more than his father’s annual income.
