In the Caribbean Premier League 2025, Nicholas Puran has been appointed as the new captain of Trinabago Knight Riders. He will replace Kieron Pollard in the role of captaincy. Pollard was captaining the Trinabago team since 2019, which is owned by the IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Apart from this, West Indies legendary cricketer Dwayne Bravo has been appointed as the head coach of the team.
Nicholas Puran has replaced Kieron Pollard, who captained Trinabago Knight Riders continuously for the last 6 seasons. This team also became a CPL champion in 2020 under the captaincy of Pollard. On the other hand, Dwayne Bravo has taken the post of Head Coach in place of Phil Simmons. Simmons, who has now become the head coach of the Bangladesh cricket team.
Puran will carry forward the legacy of veterans
On being appointed captain, Nicholas Puran expressed happiness that it would be an honor for him to captain the Trinabago Knight Riders and he would like to give his best for this team. Puran has got an opportunity to carry forward the legacy of veterans. Trinabago Knight Riders are the team that was captained by Dwayne Bravo and Keron Pollard from 2019-2024 from 2013-2019. Puran said that it would be a matter of pride for him to pursue the Legacy created by these two veterans.
Nicholas Puran still has a record of being the youngest debutant player in CPL history, who played his first CPL match at the age of 17. Puran has scored more than 9,000 runs while playing in T20 leagues around the world. His strike rate in T20 is also 149, which is a major achievement in itself.
Last season Nicholas Puran was the highest run -scorer for Trinabago Knight Riders. He scored 504 runs in 11 matches at an average of more than 56.
