Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA and District President Abdur Rahim Bakshi made a controversial statement against BJP leaders during a rally in Malda district of West Bengal. His statement has warmed the political atmosphere. This threat was given during a protest rally, in which demonstrations were being held against alleged atrocities against Bengali -speaking migrant laborers.
Abdur Rahim Bakshi, referring to the old statement of BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh of Siliguri, said that 3 million migrant laborers of Bengal are Bangladeshi or Rohingya. Bakshi threatened that if such things were heard again, they will put acids in their mouths. Apart from this, he also warned of attacking BJP MPs.
Appeal for social boycott and protest
Bakshi appealed to the people to socially boycott BJP leaders and tear their flags. He alleged that Bengalis are being killed in BJP ruled states, but BJP is silent on it. He said that BJP will not be tolerated in this area.
BJP’s strong objection
The BJP strongly objected to Bakshi’s statement. BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya called it a move promoting political violence. He alleged that Bakshi had threatened earlier. Malaviya questioned whether it is democracy or terror.
BJP leader Pradeep Bhandari described Bakshi’s threat against democracy. He said that BJP workers are not afraid or bowing and believe in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s views. BJP MP from Malda North, Khagan Murmu also condemned Bakshi’s statement and described it as a culture of intimidating TMC.
Bakshi defended his statement
As the controversy escalated, Bakshi said in front of the media that his statement was not undemocratic. Describing himself as innocent, he said that he had only spoken about the safety and respect of Bengalis.
