Police arrested Congress leader Bhaskar Mishra on 25 September for making alleged caste -based comments against BJP MLA Rajendra Meshram in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh. This case has been said to harm social harmony and the court has sent the accused to judicial custody.

Please tell that BJP MLA Rajendra Meshram of Devsar lodged a complaint at the Vaidhan police station on 21 September. It was said in the complaint that former state secretary of Congress Bhaskar Mishra has made caste derogatory remarks, which can spread tension in the society. On this, the police registered a case under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the Code of India (BNS). City Superintendent of Police Punnu Singh Parste said that 14 criminal cases have already been registered against Bhaskar Mishra.

There was a ruckus when the video surfaced

In fact, a video of Bhaskar Mishra’s alleged comment was revealed on 12 September, after which BJP workers demonstrated and demanded strict action. After investigation, the police arrested Bhaskar Mishra and was sent to judicial custody. After this incident, the political stir in Singrauli district has intensified. According to PTI, BJP leaders appreciated the police action and said that no one has the right to use caste -based abusive words.

The opposition Congress accused the matter of giving political color to the matter and said that a general political comment is being deliberately linked to caste. Congress leaders called it a strategy to pressurize the BJP. At the same time, BJP says that action under the law is completely correct and such steps are necessary to maintain harmony in the society.
