Along with praising India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin also made a big statement regarding relations with Pakistan. Describing Pakistan as a big country, he said that it has multi-dimensional relations with many countries of the world and it does not run under anyone’s remote control. While talking to journalists at the St. Petersburg International Forum, Putin also answered questions ranging from China’s control over Pakistan to India-Pakistan border dispute.
Journalists asked Putin that if Russia has good relations with both Pakistan and China, will he ensure that India’s defense interests are not harmed in any way. On the question, the Russian President said, ‘We are well aware of the complexities of the border issues between India and Pakistan. I don’t think Pakistan is completely under the control of China. Pakistan is a big country and has multidimensional relations with different countries. They will have to keep in mind cooperation with China. Everyone is developing relations with China.
‘India-China relations are multidimensional’
Regarding relations between China and India, the Russian President said, ‘In terms of GDP, India is at third place and Russia is at fourth place. China, America, India and Russia are the top four countries. These are delicate and multidimensional relations between India and China and it is not appropriate to interfere in them. We communicate with our friends in both India and China. Both President Xi and Prime Minister Modi are trying to resolve all issues of mutual interest, including border relations.
He said, ‘Relations between Russia and India do not bother China, our relations with China do not bother India. Take the example of BRICS. At one time I had suggested that the leaders of India and China meet here, the Russia-India-China agreement was reached. We had to talk about many issues, agree on many things, which we started implementing later, then Brazil also joined us.
‘We have no problem in cooperating with both India and China
Regarding the impact of Pakistan-China relations on India, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, ‘We have no problem in cooperating with either India or China. We cooperate with India in matters of advanced weapons. They have made land and sea based BrahMos missiles. As far as Su-57 is concerned, we had proposed to our Indian friends to work together on this technology, but our Indian friends said that you should do it yourself and maybe we will join. We are ready to work with India for the supply of this aircraft and its continued development. We don’t have any problem. The same thing applies in the case of air defense system.

Praising Prime Minister Modi and India, Putin said, ‘The relations between India and America do not cause any harm to the relations between India and Russia. He said, ‘America is trying to put pressure on India on many issues including cooperation with Russia, but India will resist such efforts.’
