According to Times of India, the selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar may hold a meeting with BCCI officials this weekend or next week. It is possible to discuss the future of the Test team in this meeting. It is being told that the team management wants to field its best playing eleven in every upcoming test match. But the selectors will take into account which team goes to the playoffs of IPL 2026, only after that a decision will be taken on the pace attack for the test match against Afghanistan.

According to a BCCI source, till now only the decision has been taken on Jasprit Bumrah that he will not play in the playoffs, because Mumbai Indians is out of IPL 2026. Harshit Rana and Akashdeep are currently injured, that is why they could not participate in IPL 2026. On the other hand, Gujarat Titans have almost confirmed their place in the playoffs, whose fast bowlers Mohammad Siraj and Prasidh Krishna are in great form.
