Eknath Shinde faction leader Sanjay Nirupam has cornered the opposition by supporting PM Modi’s appeal. He said that ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to the countrymen to be frugal and has asked them not to buy gold for a year and reduce the consumption of diesel-petrol and cooking oil, the entire opposition has become mentally deranged.

He said, “From Delhi to Mumbai, all the opposition parties are sometimes questioning the Prime Minister’s protocol and sometimes blaming the government for the impending crisis of the economy.” He raised the question whether we started a war in West Asia? In this era of global economy, if there is a war anywhere, won’t its shadow fall on us too?

Sanjay Nirup claimed, “Diesel-petrol is sufficient. Foreign exchange reserves are also fine. Since foreign institutions are withdrawing from the market, foreign exchange crisis may arise in future, hence, it is suggested that the purchase of gold be postponed. This should be the concern not only of the Prime Minister but of every citizen of the country, but the opposition has become so mentally bankrupt that even in this hour of crisis, it is not desisting from doing politics.

PM Modi’s appeal to the people

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (May 11) for the second time in 24 hours advised the public to reduce petrol and diesel consumption, avoid buying gold, adopt public transport and carpooling, promote virtual meetings and make more use of digital technology. Earlier on May 10, he had made 10 similar appeals to Telangana.
