Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to France and Slovakia from June 14-18. PM Modi will attend the G7 summit in Evian city of France on June 16-17. The 52nd G7 summit is being organized under the chairmanship of France. India has participated in G7 13 times so far and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is attending the G7 summit for the 7th time. France has invited India as a partner country in G7. India’s frequent participation in G7 summits reflects the growing international recognition of India’s role and contribution in addressing challenges related to global peace, security, development and environmental sustainability.

In the outreach session of the G7 summit, Prime Minister Modi will participate in different discussions with the leaders of other invited countries. The main focus of these meetings will be to promote international partnership and developmental solidarity, shared and balanced development and effective use of AI. India has been continuously raising the priorities, concerns and development related issues of the Global South in the G7 and this time too India will become a strong voice of the Global South.

India had received invitation to join G7

India was also invited to other G7 meetings this year. India’s Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar had participated in the G7 Foreign Ministers’ meeting held in Paris this year. While talking to ABP News, high diplomatic sources of France told that India has been given the highest priority in the G7. Even though India is participating in G7 as a partner country, India was invited to all the track meetings of G7. This shows how strong the bilateral relations between India and France are.

PM Modi will meet President Trump

Many bilateral meetings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi are also possible during G7 France. Most of the attention is focused on the bilateral meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Trump. There is a possibility that a bilateral meeting between Modi and Trump may take place on June 17 in Evian, France, on the sidelines of the G7. If Modi and Trump meet, it will be the first meeting between the two leaders after Operation Sindoor. Both the leaders will discuss bilateral relations between India and America. Apart from this, talks between the two leaders may also be possible on various global and regional issues.

Why is PM Modi’s visit special?

Many other bilateral meetings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi are also said to be scheduled. Along with this, PM Modi will also meet with the heads of many international organizations. This visit of PM Modi is considered to further strengthen India’s credibility at the global level.
