Pakistan and Qatar have mediated in the US-Iran deal. Islamabad has been playing the role of middleman in this since the beginning. Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni has thanked Pakistan for this peace deal. She said that she thanks all the mediators. Let us tell you that apart from Meloni, leaders of France, Germany and Britain have also thanked Pakistan and Qatar.
Georgia Meloni posted on X that we, along with France, Germany and the United Kingdom, have welcomed the recent agreement between the US and Iran. He further said that we wholeheartedly thank all those mediators, especially Qatar and Pakistan, due to whom this agreement has been possible.
Meloni further said that this is an opportunity for peace which should not be missed. Italy remains ready, as always, to support the diplomatic process towards a comprehensive agreement. He said that it is very clear that Iran cannot acquire nuclear weapons and freedom of maritime transport should be guaranteed.
What did Melonie say about Lebanon?
He further said that we are ready to contribute to the international naval presence to fully reopen Hormuz, in collaboration with other partners and upon receiving the necessary parliamentary approval. Apart from this, he also said that it is necessary to stop fighting in Lebanon, where Italy will continue to work to support the sovereignty of Lebanon.

European leaders’ statement
European leaders issued a joint statement saying that we heartily welcome the announcement of the MOU between the US and Iran and we congratulate the US, the Iranian government and all those involved, including Pakistan, Qatar and all other mediators, on this diplomatic success. The leaders now stressed that it is vital that detailed negotiations are completed and this agreement is swiftly and fully implemented. We are ready to help in this effort.
