The demand for electric and hybrid vehicles is increasing rapidly in India and keeping this opportunity in mind, BYD is preparing to strengthen its hold. Recently, the company has filed a patent for its new luxury SUV in India, which indicates that it can be launched in the Indian market in the future. BYD has already made a name for itself through its electric vehicles, but now the company is going to enter the hybrid segment as well. However, the company has not yet given any official information about its launch date.
Powerful engine and range up to 1200 km
This SUV of BYD is known as Leopard 8 and it has a plug-in hybrid system. 36.8 kWh blade battery and 2.0 liter turbo petrol engine has been used in this system. Both of these together give a power of about 748 PS and torque of 760 Nm, which makes this SUV very powerful.
Its biggest feature is its long range. This SUV can run around 100 km in electric mode only, while with both petrol and battery its total range reaches around 1,200 km. Apart from this, this SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds, which also makes it special in terms of performance.
Different names and premium identities
This SUV is known by different names in different countries. It is sold under names like BYD Leopard 8, Fangchengbao Bao 8 and BYD Denza D8, but the vehicle is the same. It is a full-size luxury SUV, which has a good combination of hybrid technology and premium design. The hybrid SUV segment is slowly growing in India, so this could be the right time for BYD to launch this SUV here. With this, the company can get a strong identity in the premium segment also.
Interior and advanced features
The interior of BYD Leopard 8 is quite modern and full of technology. It has a large 17.3-inch infotainment screen, which is placed in the middle of the dashboard. Along with this, a 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3 inch co-driver display is also available, which makes the cabin look quite high-tech. This SUV also has a 50-inch AR head-up display, wireless charging and an 18-speaker audio system, which make it more premium. It has the option of 2+2+2 and 2+3+2 seating layout, due to which it can prove to be comfortable even for a big family.
