Petrol-Diesel Price Today on May 8: A claim that the prices of petrol and diesel may increase in the coming time is going viral on social media. It is being told that the price of petrol may increase by Rs 10 per liter and the price of diesel by Rs 25. However, prices at the retail level in the country have remained stable for the last four years.

Government’s clarification on viral claim

Here, the Petroleum Ministry and PIB Fact Check have refuted the claim of increase in prices going viral on social media. However, government sources have not ruled out a possible increase in fuel prices in the near future as oil marketing companies are facing increasing losses due to retail fuel prices remaining unchanged for four years despite the huge increase in crude oil prices due to geopolitical uncertainty in West Asia.
