Jan Suraj founder Prashant Kishore broke his silence on not opening his party’s account in Bihar elections and claimed that the elections were ‘rigged’. However, he admitted that at this time he had no evidence to support this allegation.

Prashant Kishor described Jan Suraj’s defeat as a ‘crushing’ defeat, but also stressed that the impact of his campaign was visible at the grassroots level. He claimed that the voting trends were not matching with the feedback his team received during the months-long Jan Suraj Yatra. He said he believed something went wrong.

‘Some unstoppable forces were at play’
Speaking to India Today TV on Sunday (November 23), Prashant Kishor said that some unstoppable forces were at play, parties which people hardly knew got lakhs of votes. Some people are saying that EVMs were tampered. This is something that people accuse after losing. I don’t have any proof, but a lot of things don’t match. Prima facie it seems something has gone wrong, but we don’t know what.

NDA government accused of distributing money
Apart from this, the founder of Jan Suraj also accused the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) of distributing money to thousands of women voters in Bihar to manipulate the election results. Kishore said, “From the day of announcement of the elections till the day of voting, the women were given Rs 10,000. Even this amount was not enough for their promise. They were told that they would get a total of Rs 2 lakh and this Rs 10,000 was just the first instalment.

‘Fear of return of Lalu’s jungle raj’
Prashant Kishore further said that another factor that was working most against Jan Suraj was the fear of the return of Lalu’s jungle raj. By the last phase of the campaign, many voters had assumed that Jan Suraj was in no position to win. Their concern was simple, if they voted for us and we did not win, it could pave the way for the return of Lalu’s jungle raj. This fear certainly turned some people away.

After Bihar Assembly elections, a new controversy has arisen in politics. Jan Suraj has raised questions on the NDA government saying that the amount of Rs 10,000 sent to the women’s accounts just before the voting was used by the state government by withdrawing it from the funds received from the World Bank for some other project. Jan Suraj spokesperson Pawan Verma claims that this money was sent to the accounts shortly before the implementation of the Election Code of Conduct, which had a deep impact on the election environment.

Verma says that this amount was transferred only about an hour ago and many reliable sources informed him about it. Although he also admitted that the truth of this allegation is not completely clear, but if it is proved to be factually correct then it will raise ethical questions on the entire election. Because this scheme of Rs 10,000 reached 1.25 crore women voters and its political impact was being felt by all parties during the elections.

World Bank Fund and Bihar’s increasing debt

In the same sequence, Pawan Verma also said that the debt of the state has increased rapidly and has now reached above Rs 4 lakh crore and a huge amount has to be paid every day in the form of interest. According to him, due to the empty treasury of the government, the help of external funds was taken to send such a huge amount before the elections. He also alleged that a message was spread among the women that if the NDA did not return to power, further funds would be stopped.

Women vote bank and changing nature of electoral equation

Women are continuously playing a decisive role in the politics of Bihar. In the last many elections, women’s voting has been more than men and that is why women’s welfare appears at the forefront of government schemes. Schemes like gas, health, ration and sending money directly into accounts have built a trust in the government among women voters, which influenced the results this time too. Pawan Verma says that this political trust made the path of new options like Jan Suraj difficult. They call it part of electoral economics, where economic aid and political decisions are directly linked to each other.

Free schemes and political contradictions

Verma also pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has criticized free politics many times. But in Bihar elections, sending huge amount directly into the accounts of women was the same type of strategy, which was used for political gains. He said that this contradiction was a topic of discussion among the general public and NDA gained electoral edge through this.

Jan Suraj’s stand and political debate on prohibition

On Jan Suraj’s defeat, it was also said that Prashant Kishor had talked about changes in liquor prohibition when he came to power, which alienated women voters. Rejecting this claim, Pawan Verma said that liquor is available illegally in almost every area of the state and this has increased the problems of the family. According to him, it has a direct impact on women, hence the issue of prohibition cannot be the reason for Jan Suraj’s defeat.

Jan Suraj’s defeat and election logic

Jan Suraj got good overall vote percentage, but did not get even a single seat. Verma attributed this to the changing vote pattern due to Rs 10,000 given to women, NDA’s strong women-centric schemes and the traditional political structure of Bihar. He says that vote percentage and winning seats in Bihar are two completely different things and this election has made this clear.

In the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, Prashant Kishore’s Jansuraj Party had given a different atmosphere...

In the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, Prashant Kishore’s Jansuraj Party had given a different atmosphere to the entire election by entering the field with tremendous campaigning. While fielding candidates on 238 seats, the party had claimed that the public is ready for change and Jansuraj will play a decisive role. However, the picture that emerged after the counting of votes made the political strength of the party clear. The results showed that the impact of heavy campaigning could not translate into votes on the ground.

The party did not get a single victory in the fight for 238 seats. Only in Madhaura, Jansuraj candidate came second, in almost all other areas the party was reduced to third or fourth position. The counting of votes also made it clear that in many places the party got better votes than expected, but they were not enough to win any seat or pose a serious challenge.

In some seats, Jansuraj’s votes were many times more than NDA’s defeat.

An interesting aspect in the election results was that in many places the number of votes received by Jansuraj candidates was much more than the margin of defeat of the NDA candidate. Because of this, there is a heated discussion in political circles that if Jansuraj had not been in the fray, the result of these seats might have looked different.

Those seven seats where Jansuraj’s votes became a big factor

Below are the details of those 7 seats where NDA lost by a very small margin, but Jansuraj got many times more votes. These seats became the most interesting story of the election results.

Dhaka – NDA lost by only 178 votes, Jansuraj got 8,347 votes.
Jehanabad – difference 793, Jansuraj got 5,760 votes
Makhdumpur – margin 1,830, Jansuraj 4,803 votes
Tikari – margin 2,058, Jansuraj got 2,552 votes
Goh – margin 4,041, Jansuraj 7,996 votes
Bodhgaya – margin 881, Jansuraj 4,024 votes
Chanpatia – margin 602, Jansuraj 37,172 votes

Chanpatia became the biggest example

In Chanpatia, Jansuraj candidate Manish Kashyap secured 37,172 votes, while the NDA candidate lost the election by just 602 votes. This is the reason why this seat became the most discussed seat of the entire election.

Complete picture of Jansuraj in figures

Jansuraj Party contested elections on 238 seats, but could not convert any seat into victory. Naveen Kumar Singh stood second in Marhaura, but he had to face defeat from the RJD candidate by about 27 thousand votes. In all other areas, the party’s performance was mediocre and it could not reach above the third-fourth position.

In the 2025 elections, JDU snatched the Islampur seat from RJD and increased its victory margin in a seat like Hilsa from just 12 votes to more than 15 thousand, which is a sign of the party’s strong comeback in Nalanda district.

In the trends of vote counting for Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, the position of Jan...

In the trends of vote counting for Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, the position of Jan Suraj Party seems to be becoming very weak. Especially in Chanpatia seat, the party’s famous face Manish Kashyap has got a big shock. By the counting of 8 rounds, he seems to be far away from the contest, while a tough fight continues between BJP and Congress.

BJP candidate Umakant Singh from Chanpatia seat has maintained the lead since the beginning. Till the 8th round he has received 30,290 votes and he is moving forward with full confidence. The continuous increase clearly shows that BJP’s hold in Chanpatia remains strong.

After BJP, the closest contest is given by Abhishek Ranjan of Congress. He has received 28,719 votes and remains at second position. There is not much difference between the two candidates, so the contest may become more interesting in the further counting. At present, Congress seems to be giving a tough competition to BJP.

Big blow to Manish Kashyap

Tripurari Kumar Tiwari alias Manish Kashyap, contesting the elections from Jan Suraj Party, seems to be limited to only 12,081 votes. Contrary to the expectations of his supporters, Manish Kashyap has slipped to third place on this seat. His lagging behind BJP shows a difference of more than 18 thousand votes, which is considered a big sign for Jan Suraj.

Marginal votes for other candidates

Independent candidates Mohammad Soeb and LJS. Party’s Bipin Tiwari has got very less votes. Mohammad Soyeb has got only 679 votes, while Bipin Tiwari has been able to reach only 663 votes. At the same time, 891 votes were cast on NOTA, which is more than the smaller candidates.

Jan Suraj Party’s weak performance across the state

Not only in Chanpatia, but from the trends found so far in entire Bihar, it is clear that Jan Suraj Party has failed to gain lead on any seat. The party’s big hopes were pinned on Manish Kashyap, but his performance also looks disappointing in the initial results.

The Grand Alliance is not trusting the exit poll data in Bihar, but if we look at the data of 8-10 exit polls, then everyone is supporting the NDA to form the government in Bihar again. Meanwhile, on Wednesday (November 12, 2025) evening, ‘Axis My India’ has released the exit poll data. It is surprising that in this also NDA government is being formed in Bihar.

If we look at the exit poll data of ‘Axis My India’, it comes to light that NDA may get 121-141 seats this time. Whereas the Grand Alliance can get 98-118 seats. In the exit poll, Prashant Kishor’s party Jan Suraj has been given 0-2 seats. Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM has been given 0-2 seats. Others are getting 1-5 seats. 122 seats are needed to form government in Bihar.

How many seats does which party get in the Grand Alliance?

RJD- 67-76

Congress- 17-21

VIP- 3-5

Left- 10-14

IIP- 0-1

Which party gets how many seats in NDA?

BJP- 50-56

JDU- 56-62

LJP Ramvilas- 11-16

Rashtriya Lok Morcha- 2-4

Hindustani Awam Morcha- 2-3

What percentage of votes did ‘Axis My India’ give to whom?

43 percent to NDA

41 percent to Grand Alliance

4 percent to Jan Suraj

1 percent to AIMIM

11 percent to others

Prashant Kishor got the biggest shock

If you take any exit poll so far, Jan Suraj’s founder Prashant Kishor is getting the biggest shock. No one is giving them more than 2-4 seats. The preparation with which Prashant Kishor conducted the Padyatra in Bihar and attacked the Grand Alliance along with the NDA seemed to indicate that this time the picture would be different but nothing like this is visible in the exit polls. Now it has to be seen what the true picture will be when the results come on 14th November. Let us tell you that Prashant Kishore has said many times that he will either stay on his throne or on the floor.

The results of Bihar Assembly elections (2025) will come on 14 November. It is clear from the voting held in the first and second phases that the voting percentage has increased this time. Now after the end of the second phase of elections on Tuesday (November 11, 2025), exit polls have started coming. How many seats Mukesh Sahni’s party, which is part of the grand alliance, will win will be known on November 14, but some pictures seem to be clear from the five exit polls.

Mukesh Sahni is the Deputy CM face in the Grand Alliance. This was formally announced. That means, if the Grand Alliance government is formed, it is certain that he will be made the Deputy Chief Minister. Apart from these, there can be more Deputy CMs. Meanwhile, just take a look at how many seats are being given to his party in the exit polls.

Which survey agency gave how many seats to VIP?

Matrize-IANS- 1-14

People Insight- 2-3

Chanakya- 7-9

Poll Diary- 00

Polstrat-2-3

Sahni had contested on 11 seats in 2020

In the 2020 elections, BJP had won 121 seats in NDA. Out of these, BJP had given 11 seats to Mukesh Sahni’s party. These 11 seats were Brahmapur, Bochahan, Gaura Bauram, Simri Bakhtiyarpur, Sugauli, Madhubani, Kevati, Sahibganj, Balrampur, Alinagar and Baniapur. Mukesh Sahni himself had contested the elections from Simri Bakhtiyarpur in Saharsa district but lost to RJD’s Yusuf Salauddin.

Had suddenly changed sides in 2020

If we remember the election year of 2020, Mukesh Sahni suddenly moved from Grand Alliance to NDA. When the PC of the Grand Alliance was held and his party was not given even a single seat, he walked out of the program saying that he had been stabbed in the back. After this he joined NDA.

Became minister in government after becoming MLC

In 2020, four candidates of Mukesh Sahni had won. Musafir Paswan won from Bochahan, Swarna Singh from Gaura Bauram, Mishri Lal Yadav from Alinagar, Rajkumar Singh won from Sahibganj. At that time, BJP had made Mukesh Sahni an MLC and made him the Minister of Animal Husbandry and Fisheries.
