The Transport Department of Bihar has taken the decision to increase bus fares. For this, the department has also issued a notification on Friday.

It has been said in this notification that the rescheduling of fares has been done in view of the way diesel prices have increased in the recent past and operating expenses have increased. The government has increased the fares of all types of buses from ordinary to deluxe and AC.

How much will be the new fare for ordinary bus?

The government has fixed the new fare on the basis of distance. For traveling up to 50 kilometers in ordinary buses, the fare will be Rs 1.73 per kilometre, whereas earlier it was Rs 1.50. At the same time, the fare has been fixed at Rs 1.71 per kilometer for distances up to 100 kilometers and Rs 1.65 per kilometer for distances more than 300 kilometers.

Fares of deluxe and AC buses also increased

Similarly, in deluxe bus service, the fare for travel up to 50 kilometers has been fixed at Rs 1.96 per kilometer. For traveling up to 100 kilometers, fare will be charged at the rate of Rs 1.94 per km.

At the same time, the new fare for journey up to 50 km in AC bus has been fixed at Rs 2.30 per km. The fare for traveling up to 100 km will be Rs 2.28 per km. According to the new rates, along with government buses, private bus operators will also increase the fares.

Action will be taken if fare exceeds the prescribed limit

Apart from this, the district administration and local officials have been instructed to monitor the fare system. If any bus operator charges more than the fixed fare, strict action will be taken against him.
