Lakhpati Didi: Dilmati, a resident of Laduwa village in Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh, changed her entire life through hard work. His family, which once made a living through traditional farming, is now earning around Rs 7 to 8 lakh every year from the successful business of pig rearing. This success of Dilmati is not limited only to her family, but has now become an example for the women of the surrounding villages as well. This is the reason why today she is known as the successful ‘Lakhpati Didi’ of the area.

How did the business start?

Dilmati is associated with ‘Maa Durga Women Self-Help Group’ (SHG). Earlier his family was dependent only on farming, due to which it became very difficult to meet the expenses of his household. After joining a self-help group (SHG), Dilmati took a loan of Rs 1 lakh and started a small business by purchasing 10 pigs from Jharkhand.

How are millions of people earning today?

In the beginning his business was very small, but gradually this business started giving him good profits. Today he has many female pigs. Every female pig gives birth to 9 to 10 children at a time and the price of each child is around Rs 5,000.

Dilmati reinvested the income from pig farming in business and farming. He built a better shed for the animals, bought agricultural equipment, adopted drip irrigation and also started cultivating organic vegetables, which created many sources of income for him. Due to this business, today his earning is around Rs 7-8 lakh every year.

Became an example for other women

Seeing this success of Dilmati, about 10 to 15 families of her village have also started the business of pig rearing. Along with this, she is now advising other women to join self-help groups, make regular savings and make proper use of loans for self-employment.
