IPL 2026 was fantastic for Vaibhav Suryavanshi, he became the youngest batsman in IPL history to win the Orange Cap with 776 runs. He also made the record of hitting most sixes (72) in a season, along with MVP he won many other awards. Now discussions have started about him, fans want to see him in international cricket soon and are demanding that he should be included in the Ireland tour. However, former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has a different opinion on this, according to him BCCI should be careful while promoting him in the senior team.
Sanjay Manjrekar is impressed by the performance of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, but he believes that it is not right to play a 15-year-old player directly in conditions like Ireland. Speaking to Sportstar, he said, ‘Vaibhav is definitely the next player in line after Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma in the T20 format. But if he has to be brought to Team India, then I would first like to see him playing on Indian pitches like IPL. According to me, it would not be right to play them directly on pitches like South Africa, New Zealand or Ireland.

Who should be placed ahead between Shubhman Gill or Vaibhav Suryavanshi? According to Manjrekar, this will be a difficult decision for the selectors. Therefore this process should be taken forward. Everything changes very quickly in T20 format. On this he quipped, ‘Things change in a short time, no one is talking about Abhishek Sharma today.’

Manjrekar is very impressed with Vaibhav’s ability and feels that he can prove to be a game changer in ODIs as well. According to him, he can do the same wonders in the first 10 overs in ODI which Rohit Sharma did in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Manjrekar said, ‘If Vaibhav Suryavanshi wants to remain a T20 sensation then there is no problem, but he has the ability to become a player in every format.’
