The stage is being set for IPL 2027, as Rishabh Pant is going to make a comeback in Delhi Capitals. Delhi Capitals has traded Kuldeep Yadav to LSG in place of Rishabh Pant. On the other hand, Hardik Pandya is also surrounded by trade speculations. Well, talking about Pant, he has returned to the Delhi team after suffering a loss of Rs 12 crore.
After the Pant-Kuldeep trade deal, an old statement of Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjeev Goenka is going viral. He had made very big claims and said that after 10 years, Rishabh Pant’s name will be counted among the most successful captains of IPL along with MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma. But in just two years his claims have fallen flat.
Sanjeev Goenka’s old video goes viral
Let us remind you that Lucknow Super Giants had bid Rs 27 crore on Rishabh Pant in the mega auction of IPL 2025. This bid made Pant the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League.

At that time Sanjeev Goenka had said, “This is a journey of how to win 5-6 titles in the next 15 years. Right now people call Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings as the most successful teams. MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma are undoubtedly the best cricketers, but remember my words that after 10 years people will call MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant.”

54 crores were looted, but no work was done
Rishabh Pant has left the team after playing only 2 seasons for Lucknow. This means that LSG spent Rs 54 crore in two seasons but under the captaincy of Pant, the LSG team did not reach the playoffs even once. Those claims of Goenka have remained in vain. If we look at Pant’s individual performance, he played 28 matches for LSG, in which he was able to score 581 runs.
