When PM Modi reached Indonesia, he broke the protocol and this is how the President gave a grand welcome, know why China is keeping an eye on it

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Indonesia on Monday (July 6) in the first leg of his three-nation visit. The main objective of his visit is to take forward India’s ‘Act East’ policy (policy of strengthening relations with eastern countries), to clarify India’s vision regarding the sea and to further strengthen India’s promise to keep the Indo Pacific region free, open and safe for all. Modi was welcomed at the airport by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.

PM Modi reached Jakarta

After reaching Jakarta, PM Modi posted on Instagram and wrote, ‘In 2018, we raised the relations between the two countries to the level of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which has greatly benefited our people. During this visit, President Prabowo Subianto and I will discuss with the aim of further accelerating this partnership in various areas. President Prabowo and I will also visit the Prambanan temple complex in Yogyakarta. This visit will further strengthen the cultural ties between our two countries. During my stay in Indonesia, I am also looking forward to the opportunity to interact with the Indian community.

This visit of PM Modi is taking place after the state visit of President Prabowo to India as the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations in January 2025. He said, ‘The civilizational and people-to-people ties between India and Indonesia are very strong and my visit will further strengthen all aspects of our multi-dimensional partnership.’

PM Modi will visit Prambanan temple complex

During the visit, PM Modi will also meet members of the Indian community in Indonesia and visit the Prambanan temple complex in Yogyakarta with President Prabowo, another excellent example of the deep cultural ties between the two countries. Located about 17 kilometers north-east of Yogyakarta city, this centuries-old temple is considered to be the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia.

From Indonesia, Modi will go to Melbourne on the invitation of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. On the last leg of the journey, he will reach Auckland at the invitation of New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.
