Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi openly expressed his views on the war in the Middle East in an interview given to Mehr News. Apart from this, he also told about the conversation he had with American Ambassador Steve Witkoff. Araghchi said that before the 12-day war, America had demanded zero uranium enrichment in the talks.
He said that we opposed this illegal and absurd demand and stuck to our stand. Araghchi said that when the Americans saw that they could not fulfill their desired demands through negotiations, they started war. He said that due to Iran’s stubbornness at the negotiating table, America had to choose a difficult path and was defeated in the 12-day war.
Referring to the conversation with US Ambassador Witkoff, Araghchi said that I asked him, “Have you ever attended such a meeting where at every moment you felt that a bomb could fall on the entire meeting? Have you ever felt while talking on the phone that you could explode at any moment? Have you ever inquired about the well-being of your family on the phone and thought that this might be the last time? We have experienced all this and we stood firm.”

Told the story of the conversation with Witkoff
He further said that I told Witkoff that you have to talk to us in a different way. You can neither threaten us nor bribe us. Aragchi said that America had proposed to build power plants and infrastructure in exchange for some concessions, but I said that neither bribery nor threats would work. Threats can be given to someone who is scared. When we have set out on this path, we know that anything can happen to us at any moment, so you cannot scare me.
Araghchi also mentioned the American operation that took place on January 3, in which Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro was captured and taken to New York for trial. He said that this is not Venezuela where you capture one person and everyone else gets scared and retreats.
