American citizens should avoid traveling to Pakistan: Trump
Some areas, including some parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, have been kept in Level 4, which means that they have been asked not to travel here. The advisory urges American citizens not to travel to the Level 4 area for any reason, warning that assassination and kidnapping attempts are common, especially against government officials and civilians.
According to Dawn, this warning also applies to American citizens of Pakistani origin. The US advisory further said, ‘Do not travel to Balochistan province and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, including the former Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA), due to terrorism and kidnapping. It further stated that violent extremist groups have carried out attacks in Pakistan. Terrorist attacks typically occur in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which includes the former FATA, but have also occurred in major cities such as Karachi and Islamabad.
‘PAK Army can take American into custody’
The US State Department said that local law prohibits protests or demonstrations without a permit. It said, ‘If any protest happens nearby, it may attract the attention of Pakistani security forces. American citizens have been detained for taking part in the protests. You can also be detained for posting content defaming the Pakistani government, army or officials on social media.
Trump gave second blow to Shahbaz-Munir in a month
Earlier this month, a US State Department spokesperson announced that the Trump government was suspending the process of immigrant visas for applicants from 75 countries from January 21. This will affect applicants from Africa, the Middle East, the Caribbean and Latin America, the Balkan region and some countries in South Asia, including Pakistan and Bangladesh. Reacting to the announcement of ban on American visas, Pakistan’s Foreign Office has expressed hope that this suspension is temporary and the normal process can be resumed soon. By then the backlog of applications is expected to increase.
