Abhishek Sharma played an explosive inning of 48 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday. In this innings played in 21 balls, he hit 4 sixes and the same number of fours. However, BCCI took action against him after the match. He has been fined 25 percent of his match fee for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during the match. He has also been given one demerit point.

While fining Abhishek Sharma, BCCI said in an official statement, “Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder Abhishek Sharma has been fined 25 percent of his match fee, and has also been given one demerit point, for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Thursday.”

Abhishek accepted his mistake. “He admitted a Level 1 offense under Article 2.3 and accepted the match referee’s penalty. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the match referee’s decision is final and binding,” the statement read.

There was a dispute on the wicket of Abhishek Sharma

Abhishek was caught out on the boundary on the fourth ball of the 9th over. However, it reached the third umpire because it was not clear whether Varun Chakraborty had completed the catch or not. Many fans on social media also believed that it was not a catch. Abhishek was also not happy with this.

SRH won by 65 runs

Sunrisers Hyderabad team registered its first win in IPL 2026 on Thursday. Batting first at Eden Gardens, the team had made a huge score of 226 runs, in response to which Kolkata Knight Riders got bundled out for 161 runs. Nitish Kumar Reddy was adjudged Player of the Match, who played an important inning of 39 runs in 24 balls and also took 2 wickets in 2 overs.
