Rebel in TMC: In the West Bengal assembly elections on May 4, TMC was reduced to only 80 seats. BJP has come to power in the state. After the election results, bad days for Mamata’s party also seem to have started. About 58 MLAs of the party have openly rebelled. It has also staked claim to become an opposition party. Due to this, there is a split in the party.
According to news agency ANI, the people who did not rebel include MLAs Bina Mandal, Ashima Patra, Madan Mitra, Kunal Ghosh, Firhad Hakim, Shobhandeb Chattopadhyay, Biman Banerjee and Ashok Kumar Deb. Apart from these, six MPs are also included. These include Dola Sen, Mala Roy, Kalyan Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee, Derek O’Brien and Sudip Bandyopadhyay. Who is Ritabrata Banerjee who rebelled against the party?
The rebellion in TMC is being led by Ritabrata Banerjee, the MLA who was expelled from the party. After the meeting with the Speaker, he has announced that he has been appointed the leader of the opposition. Due to this, the existence of the party is in danger. In such a situation, such a split has been seen in the party after three decades. TMC has 34 Muslim MLAs. Almost half of them have supported Ritabrata Banerjee. Ritabrata is a former student leader. He was earlier expelled from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in 2017. TMC had sent him to Rajya Sabha in 2024.
Ritabrata says that he will request Mamta to become his chief advisor. The party’s national general secretary and his nephew will not hold any talks with Abhishek. Ritabrata says that TMC Legislative Party is a team of 58 MLAs. He won on the election symbol of TMC. Now we are the real TMC in the assembly. The speaker has accepted our claim. Here, TMC is preparing to go to court against Ritabrata. TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee has said that we have decided that the leader of opposition appointed by the Speaker is illegal. We are going to court against this. We will file a petition in the High Court. We will fight on the streets, we will fight in the courts.
