Recently, Rishabh Pant’s name has been in the news a lot because he has left Lucknow Super Giants and returned to Delhi Capitals. In his place, the LSG team has included Kuldeep Yadav in its camp. This trade deal was very surprising because Pant has joined the Delhi team with a loss of Rs 12 crores.
He was getting Rs 27 crore in LSG, while Pant will get Rs 15 crore from Delhi Capitals. This is being said to be a huge loss, but you will be surprised to know that there are many players in IPL who had suffered a bigger loss than Rishabh Pant.
Biggest loss in IPL history
Venkatesh Iyer suffered the biggest loss in the history of IPL. Kolkata Knight Riders bought him for Rs 23.75 crore in the mega auction of the 2025 season. Whereas in the IPL 2026 auction, RCB had bought Iyer for Rs 7 crore. In this way he suffered a loss of Rs 16.75 crore.
Second in this list is Sam Curran, who received Rs 18.50 crore from Punjab Kings in the 2023-24 season. But when he joined CSK in 2025, he got only Rs 2.40 crore. Sam Curran had a loss of Rs 16.10 crore. Kyle Jamieson, who took Rs 15 crore from the RCB franchise in the year 2021, was bought by CSK in 2023 for only Rs 1 crore. However, Jamieson was out of that entire season due to injury.
Mitchell Starc’s name also in the list
Mitchell Starc had made a big contribution in making KKR the champion in the 2024 season. That season, Kolkata had bought him for Rs 24.75 crore, but in the 2025 auction, the bid on him came down to Rs 11.75 crore. Jhye Richardson had to suffer a loss of Rs 12.50 crore and Kane Williamson had to suffer a loss of Rs 12 crore. Rishabh Pant has also come to Delhi Capitals with a loss of Rs 12 crore.
