The Hundred League 2026 has started from 21st July. When the auction of The Hundred took place in March this year, Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise team Sunrisers Leeds had signed Pakistani cricketer Abrar Ahmed. After 2008, no Pakistani player had played in IPL and speculations were being made that the IPL franchises which are making name in the world would do the same. Despite this, SRH franchise owned by Kavya Maran had bought Abrar Ahmed for approximately Rs 2.45 crore.
In a conversation with The Telegraph, Kavya Maran was asked a question regarding signing a Pakistani cricketer. He avoided the question by saying that he is very happy with the squads of his men’s and women’s teams. He said, “We are satisfied with both our squads. We have taken care of a lot of things.”
Only two Pakistani cricketers are playing in The Hundred 2026. Abrar Ahmed will play for Sunrisers Leeds. Whereas Usman Tariq will be seen playing for Birmingham Phoenix. Sunrisers also included Abrar in their playing eleven in the first match of the league. Abrar Ahmed was bought by Sunrisers Leeds for 1 lakh 90 thousand pounds, while Usman Tariq was bought by Birmingham Phoenix for 1 lakh 40 thousand pounds.
The Hundred season has started from today i.e. 21st July and the final will be played on 16th August. Let us tell you that a total of 8 teams are participating in this league, out of which IPL franchises have stake in four teams. Mumbai Indians owned MI London, SRH owned Sunrisers Leeds, LSG owned Manchester Super Giants and GMR Group had bought stake in the Southern Brave team.
