B-52 Bomber Crash: A US Air Force B-52 bomber crashed just minutes after taking off from Edwards Air Force Base in Southern California. All 8 people on board the plane died in this accident. According to the Air Force base, the accident occurred at 11.20 am local time on Monday, when the plane was on a routine mission. After the accident, a huge plume of black smoke was seen rising from the spot, which could be seen from many miles away.
Air Force said it was a tragic accident
Colonel James Hayes of Edwards Air Force Base told reporters that today a very tragic accident has happened at the base and we have lost eight great Americans. He said that the accident was so severe that there was no possibility of anyone’s survival. According to Colonel Hayes, apart from military personnel, government employees and contract workers were also on board the plane.

He said that the reasons for the accident are not yet known and a detailed investigation will be conducted. The real cause of the accident will be revealed only after initial investigation. Hayes said the entire investigative process could take more than six months.
The accident happened on the runway itself
According to the Air Force, the plane accident happened in the runway area of the base itself. Following the accident, many operational activities at the base have been temporarily halted due to security reasons. Colonel Hayes said the B-52 bomber was assisting in the air base’s radar modernization program. Soon after takeoff, the plane lost control and caught fire. Immediately after the accident, the emergency response team reached the spot and relief and rescue operations were started, but no one on board the plane could be saved.
B-52 bomber is capable of carrying nuclear weapons
The B-52 bomber is counted among the oldest and most powerful aircraft of the US Air Force. It was first inducted into service in the year 1955. It is a long-range heavy bomber aircraft, which has the capacity to carry up to 70 thousand pounds of bombs and other weapons.
