Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Monday (15 June 2026) that his country will host the ceremony for the signing of the peace agreement between the US and Iran in Switzerland. On one hand, with this deal the world hopes for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and normalization of the global energy supply chain. No matter how much Pakistan may boast about this deal, Israel has made it clear that it will not listen to anyone on the issue of Lebanon.

Shahbaz Sharif’s statement regarding Lebanon

Shahbaz Sharif informed the National Assembly, the lower house of the Pakistan Parliament, about Pakistan’s efforts to end the US-Iran war. He said, ‘This is not an agreement between two countries, but it is a success of peace and dialogue, it is a diplomatic success.’ Welcoming this development, he said, ‘After three months and 16 days of continuous efforts, America and Iran have announced to immediately and forever end military actions everywhere, including Lebanon.’

Israel made its intentions clear regarding Lebanon

Not even 24 hours had passed since Trump finalized the deal when Israel made its intentions clear by attacking Lebanon. Iran’s news agency IRIB quoted a source as saying that Israel has carried out air and artillery strikes in the cities of Jawatar, Merkaba and Khiyam in southern Lebanon. Trump had said that with the implementation of the peace agreement, firing would stop on all fronts including Lebanon, whereas this did not happen. Israeli Defense Minister Katz has said that if Iran attacks Tel Aviv due to its ongoing military campaign in Lebanon, we are ready to retaliate with full force.

Trump’s agreement does not bind us: Israel

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir posted on X and wrote, ‘Trump’s agreement does not bind us. Israel is not subject to the United States and we are an independent and sovereign nation. We must not settle for anything less than the elimination of Hezbollah, and we must not retreat from areas that our fighters have captured and liberated from terrorist infrastructure.

On the other hand, Shehbaz Sharif said that during the entire process of negotiations, the leadership of both the countries, America and Iran, showed patience and understanding even in difficult circumstances. As a result, the whole world has become a witness to this wonderful day. US President Donald Trump has announced that America and Iran have finalized an agreement to end their 107-day long war. The Prime Minister of Pakistan said that the peace agreement will be signed in Switzerland on June 19. Shahbaz said that Pakistan will host the signing ceremony of this historic agreement in Geneva on June 19.
