Tamim Iqbal BCB President: There has been a coup in the power of Bangladesh Cricket Board. Former cricketer Tamim Iqbal has become the new president of BCB. This decision has come at a time when a few days ago, Bangladesh had demanded to continue the bilateral series against India.

The National Sports Council, under the Government of Bangladesh, had formed a committee to oversee the day-to-day functioning of the board until the next elections. 37-year-old Tamim Iqbal has become the youngest president in the history of Bangladesh Cricket Board.

According to news agency PTI, the main reason for the removal of Aminul Islam Bulbul from the post of president is the controversy that arose during the T20 World Cup 2026. At that time, Asif Nazrul, advisor to the interim government, was not in favor of sending the Bangladesh cricket team to India for the T20 World Cup 2026.

Nazrul said that Bangladesh matches should be shifted from Kolkata and Mumbai to Sri Lanka. He did this in protest against the removal of Mustafizur Rahman from IPL. Aminul Islam could not do anything during this entire controversy. Even in the last few days, 6 directors have resigned from their posts in BCB.

Elections are to be held within the next 90 days

Elections are to be held in Bangladesh Cricket Board within the next 90 days. Tamim Iqbal will also lead the 11-member committee, whose work will be to conduct the board elections properly. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has been informed about the dismissal of the present Chairman of the Board.

However, ICC rules do not allow government interference in the internal affairs of the board. There is little hope that ICC will impose any ban on Bangladesh, because the National Sports Council has already announced the elections.
